[CHOWTIME] Breakfast @ Great Cafe

As I am writing this blog, I feel so giddy of excitement, why? Well because the most anticipated day that Jcel and I have been waiting for is nearing. I'll talk about it in my next blog.

On the other hand, Jcel and I had the chance to have breakfast inside Pacific Place Admiralty at Great Cafe. And here's what we had ...

"3 Eggs Omelette"

The omelette was "ok", it was neither good nor bad. But we still prefer omelettes in La Fontaine. The stuffing's in J's omelette was tomatoes & cheese, mushrooms and ham. Here's what she said ...

"It was something that needs to grow in you. I was hoping i'd get mushrooms only but the waitress didn't bother to ask and gave me all of it which I wouldn't suggest especially the tomatoes & cheese. It was a bit too much for my liking. All the stuffing's mixed made my taste-buds go crazy." - jCel

"Egg any Style"
I had the "Egg any Style" which includes a toasted bread, 2 sausages, hash-brown and egg. It was a typical western breakfast. Nothing extra ordinary.

And for the finale, "Pecan Waffle". Our first impression was, THICK! Too thick! At some point, Jcel thought she'll choke but once you get pass the choking hazard then you will be able to enjoy the waffles. They were actually quite good.

And the total is .....

The downside was their service because it was NOT so Great. The staff at the bar side were busy chattering with each other and the servers were serving like zombies and to think it was already 10+AM when we went in. We ordered 2 glasses of orange juice but a server gave us one glass first and waited for another 10 minutes for the other one which I could see that it was already prepared and yet no one took the initiative to serve it. It was just sitting on the counter for quite some time.

Great Food Court - Pacific Place.

Price range: $50 - $100 per head

Would I recommend this place?

No, for the amount of money that we have paid we can dine in a better place like La Fontaine, Habitŭ or even Mcdonalds. :D

Cheers!

Unfinished Business

This is my first entry for the year 2013. Hurray! Okay – the reason I'm blogging because Jcel, mind to say very petite, "innocent" looking yet monstrous and a bully in the inside won’t stop bombarding me to blog.

As I was thinking what to write about, I went through my draft folder and realized that I've written quite a lot of drafts and never had the chance to finish them. Here's a few of them ...

1)
This was supposedly my “BOOK it” review. But since one sentence is enough to break a heart, the lost prince deserves the one sentence review. :D

2)

Ahhhh – Yes! I've been working on this for a week now, but apparently I can’t find the right words to say.  So, another one bites the dust!

3)

This I've written last November 2012. I really meant to finish this book review but unfortunately I've gotten so busy, I just forgot about it. :D

4)

Here’s another one from last year as well. Based on my writing I think I was going to rant about music in the Philippines now-a-days. But yes it’s true; almost all of the songs in the Philippines sang by a new artist are revivals.   bleckkk!

5)

Yay! Birthday is coming my way in three months time. :D

6)

Oh!  What a memorable day that was! I totally forgot I've written a paragraph about it. But yes, it was a very terrifying day for all of us and I thank the Lord that it was only a false alarm. On the same day, my brother told me that they had to go home early from school because their alarm went off as well. The culprit?! HUMIDITY.  Apparently, a humid condition causes fire alarms to activate as per the firemen.

So there you go, my drafts. Frankly speaking, I love to write but words don't seem to come out right for me or is it one of my many excuses?

I've decided to show you my unfinished work of art (^_^) – I meant – unfinished compositions because I have just realized that I like to start something and always fail to finish them. I have Jcel to thank for, because she made me realize that it has become one of my many bad habits. As much as I want to deny it, the evidence in my draft folder couldn't get me out of it. Therefore, I plead - Guilty!

In this case, I have here two resolutions to start off this year or should I say, to start off the month of February.

1)     To always finish what I have started.
(i.e start to write a complete blog just like this one not having Jcel to nag me to do it.)

2)     Implement self-discipline in all areas.
(i.e Waking up and going to work early, to move more and do more "simple" chores at home etc.)

It’s the only two that I could think of right now. But I’ll add some more when I've crossed the bridge of actually doing those two resolutions and see improvements for the whole month of February. So, fingers crossed!

Cheers,
Bex

Road to Healthy

Every year I would always make a resolution to lose a few extra pounds and keep fit but honesty I will say it and never really do it. So I asked myself do I only want to lose weight? Is that the only thing that will make me happy? Of course not, and I'm sure you will all agree with me. So for 2013 I would like to do something different with my resolution in fact I wouldn't call it so much as a resolution but a change of lifestyle. I'm going to start my Road to Healthy and this won't just be eating healthy and doing exercises but I WANT to be healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and most importantly financially (LOL). Yes it may sound a bit excessive but really it's simple.

www.pinterest.com

Every month I will have a simple goal. Only one goal per month because if you overwhelm yourself chances are you are going to give up and throw it in the bin. So one goal per month sounds attainable to me. I believe that if you've lasted a month making simple changes then you won't find it hard to keep on doing it for a whole year, maybe. And hopefully by year-end these changes will become my lifestyle and I'd be a much happier and wealthier person because you know what they say, Health is Wealth. So without further adieu here are my goals for next 4 months each targeting one health category.

January (Target: Physical)
Yes I realized that we are nearing the end but this whole month Bex and I have been doing 30 minutes leisure walks during lunch breaks and will be doing still. So let's put that in for this month.

February (Target: Financial & Physical)
Make home-cooked meals for lunch. Not only will I be saving money from buying lunch food everyday but also I can watch my portions and have a good pick of the food I will eat. Double Whammy!

March (Target: Mental)
I love reading, no surprise there but I normally read fiction so this time I will/want to read at least 2 books that will gain me knowledge.

April (Target: Spiritual & Emotional)
Yay my birth month! To celebrate another year on Earth I'm going to start my Purpose Driven Life journey in the hopes that I'll be a much well-rounded person by my next birthday. :)

I know they are not much and probably silly to others but I don't want to shock myself by listing "Jog every morning" because I know I won't be able to do that so let's start small shall we?! As my Kuya (big brother) would say, Think big-Start small-Move quick (yes yes, I know very cliché!)

Every 3 months I will give you a run down if I have managed to fulfill my goals or not and don't worry I won't be cheating because at the end of the day I will only be cheating myself.

If you would like to do this Road to Healthy with me, please do comment below. It'd be much more fun and motivating to know that I'm not alone. Obviously you can make your own goals every month. You can even do more than one if you are up to the challenge, whichever you are comfortable with. :) so anyways... cheers to a healthier lifestyle everyone!

Ciao,

[BOOK-IT] New Year, New Goal

While making a list of goals for 2013 is a whole lot of fun, trying to keep it is a struggle nonetheless it doesn't stop us from making 100+ goals and who knows you might be able to achieve 50% of it, but chances are always slim. In any case, one of my goals is to read 50 books for 2013. Yes yes I know this is sooooo last year because truth be told I haven't been able to achieve the 50 books for 2012 and I am really quite disappointed with myself  however I will not stop until I succeed so here's to another year of the 50 book challenge *Cheers!

My total score for the 2012 Book Challenge. What a fail!

Now to start of this challenge I have finally finished reading Rick Riordan's new book "The Mark of Athena". It took me a while to read this book because well with all the festivities its hard to have a little lull time and just read but I made it and I can finally put this book in my "Read" shelf.

My next book to finish is Marian Keyes' new installment of the Walsh family, the "Mystery of Mercy Close". I've just started reading this yesterday and no, I'm not even close to half of the book but it's a pretty easy read so I'm sure I'd be able to finish this in no time.

Another book I pulled out of my shelf is the White Queen. If you follow my Book-It posts you might have heard me talk about this a while, while back. I started reading this before but a few chapters on I just lost interest and never picked it up since but, we shan't put a book to waste so I'm willing to give this another try. Wish me luck!

So far that's what I plan to read on and really I encourage everyone to do the 50 book challenge with me. Let me know if you do...

Also I do plan to write a review of all the books I've read, most probably in Goodreads. Okay scratch that I won't be able to review ALL, since they are quite a lot and such a long time ago but I will (REALLY!) write up a review for a good number of them.

2013 Reading Challenge

2013 Reading Challenge
Jcel has read 1 book toward her goal of 50 books.

P.S I will also love it if you will recommend me books and I do read pretty much every Genre. :D

Till my next Book-It update...

[TAG] Reflections for 2012

During this time of the year I bet everyone is writing their New Years Resolution, don't forget to write "Lose Weight" in the list! LOL

While making upcoming resolutions are good ol' fun, really we mustn't forget to take time and look back at how we have spent our 2012 so here we have answered 7 questions to reflect on our 2012,

*Warning* this is probably our most personal blog post yet... so don't be shock if we sound somewhat abnormally serious and mature but we hope you Enjoy!

  1. If the last year were a movie of your life, what would the genre be?
Jcel:
 - Adventure. 1. I can say that this year has been such a roller-coaster ride for my family but we always tend to pick ourselves and end up on right side of things. 2. I have been more open to doing things out of my comfort zone, i.e eating a pigeon.
Bex:
A combination of Drama, adventure and Comedy!
- 2012 was the year that the MIXXED girls have taken “Adventure” to the next level, simply because, we not only explore Hong Kong this time but actually went to travel which involved passports and airplanes.
-  “Comedy” because no matter how stressful and frustrated it can get, laughter still fills the air.
- “Drama” because I’m Bex and my life is a drama. (hehehe)

  1. What were the two or three major themes that kept recurring?
Jcel:
- Breaking down and almost losing hope.
      - Surrendering everything to God and then everything is back to normal again.
Bex:
-          Making difficult decisions.
-          Learning to let the little things go and focus on what really matters.
-          Humility.

  1. What did you accomplish this past year that you are the most proud of?
Jcel:  I am proud to say that spiritually I am more enlightened and that I have truly opened my heart to God.
Bex:
-          More involved in the church.
-          Having to read 23 books in a year.
-          Having to actually spend more time with my family was I think the most wonderful accomplishment that I am proud of for 2012.

  1. What do you feel you should have been acknowledged for but weren’t?
Jcel: I don’t want pin-point certain things because it is too personal but I have felt that numerous times all the good I’ve done are being neglected. Especially when you have sacrificed so much and it seems that it is still not enough.
Bex: There are certain events but I consider them as petty, so I’d prefer not mentioning them.

  1. What disappointments or regrets did you experience this past year?
Jcel: I am disappointed with my spending habits because saving-wise I knew I could do so much better.

Bex:
-          Failing to involve myself in the Music team in the area of Worship Leading.
-          Failed to actually run every morning through out the year.
-          Gained what I should have lost.

  1. What was missing from last year as you look back?
Jcel: Exercise. Every start of the year I have good intentions to really get on with an exercise routine and healthy eating habits sadly, I wasn't able to fulfill that this year. Better luck next year? LOL

Bex:
-          More time to study.
-          Time and Money management.
-          MIXXED
-          Exercise

  1. What were the major life-lessons you learned this past year?
Jcel: That prayer is the best medicine. There came a time for our family this year when really all we can do is just pray and except what is bound to happen but then a miracle happened and what we were expecting to happened was avoided. Yes that’s very vague but I don’t want to divulge the details because it is too personal and it’s not my story to tell. But the moral lesson is that if your prayers are sincere and if you truly open yourself to Him, He will answer them.
Bex:
-          It has always been man’s problem – for one to be dissatisfied with life. Yes, I went through that and the lesson I have learned is that – no matter what I have achieved, the big salary that I earn and all this world can offer, I will never find satisfaction because only GOD Himself can bring satisfaction in man’s heart. J
-          The grace of God is beyond measure and it is by His grace that I am alive today and be able to enjoy another year of His goodness.

If you are reading this part then you have survived. HORRAY! Yes that was quite a toned-down version of ourselves Not to worry we will be back with more obnoxious childish behavior next year! hahaha

For fellow bloggers, we'd love it if you will carry on the tag and let us know the link to your blog. For those who couldn't be bothered to blog, just comment below your answers -only if you are willing to share. We always want to read other's answers. :)

See you all Mixxedolls next year.

Much Love,
