Road to Healthy

Every year I would always make a resolution to lose a few extra pounds and keep fit but honesty I will say it and never really do it. So I asked myself do I only want to lose weight? Is that the only thing that will make me happy? Of course not, and I'm sure you will all agree with me. So for 2013 I would like to do something different with my resolution in fact I wouldn't call it so much as a resolution but a change of lifestyle. I'm going to start my Road to Healthy and this won't just be eating healthy and doing exercises but I WANT to be healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and most importantly financially (LOL). Yes it may sound a bit excessive but really it's simple.

Every month I will have a simple goal. Only one goal per month because if you overwhelm yourself chances are you are going to give up and throw it in the bin. So one goal per month sounds attainable to me. I believe that if you've lasted a month making simple changes then you won't find it hard to keep on doing it for a whole year, maybe. And hopefully by year-end these changes will become my lifestyle and I'd be a much happier and wealthier person because you know what they say, Health is Wealth. So without further adieu here are my goals for next 4 months each targeting one health category.

January (Target: Physical)
Yes I realized that we are nearing the end but this whole month Bex and I have been doing 30 minutes leisure walks during lunch breaks and will be doing still. So let's put that in for this month.

February (Target: Financial & Physical)
Make home-cooked meals for lunch. Not only will I be saving money from buying lunch food everyday but also I can watch my portions and have a good pick of the food I will eat. Double Whammy!

March (Target: Mental)
I love reading, no surprise there but I normally read fiction so this time I will/want to read at least 2 books that will gain me knowledge.

April (Target: Spiritual & Emotional)
Yay my birth month! To celebrate another year on Earth I'm going to start my Purpose Driven Life journey in the hopes that I'll be a much well-rounded person by my next birthday. :)

I know they are not much and probably silly to others but I don't want to shock myself by listing "Jog every morning" because I know I won't be able to do that so let's start small shall we?! As my Kuya (big brother) would say, Think big-Start small-Move quick (yes yes, I know very cliché!)

Every 3 months I will give you a run down if I have managed to fulfill my goals or not and don't worry I won't be cheating because at the end of the day I will only be cheating myself.

If you would like to do this Road to Healthy with me, please do comment below. It'd be much more fun and motivating to know that I'm not alone. Obviously you can make your own goals every month. You can even do more than one if you are up to the challenge, whichever you are comfortable with. :) so anyways... cheers to a healthier lifestyle everyone!

[BOOK-IT] New Year, New Goal

While making a list of goals for 2013 is a whole lot of fun, trying to keep it is a struggle nonetheless it doesn't stop us from making 100+ goals and who knows you might be able to achieve 50% of it, but chances are always slim. In any case, one of my goals is to read 50 books for 2013. Yes yes I know this is sooooo last year because truth be told I haven't been able to achieve the 50 books for 2012 and I am really quite disappointed with myself  however I will not stop until I succeed so here's to another year of the 50 book challenge *Cheers!

My total score for the 2012 Book Challenge. What a fail!

Now to start of this challenge I have finally finished reading Rick Riordan's new book "The Mark of Athena". It took me a while to read this book because well with all the festivities its hard to have a little lull time and just read but I made it and I can finally put this book in my "Read" shelf.

My next book to finish is Marian Keyes' new installment of the Walsh family, the "Mystery of Mercy Close". I've just started reading this yesterday and no, I'm not even close to half of the book but it's a pretty easy read so I'm sure I'd be able to finish this in no time.

Another book I pulled out of my shelf is the White Queen. If you follow my Book-It posts you might have heard me talk about this a while, while back. I started reading this before but a few chapters on I just lost interest and never picked it up since but, we shan't put a book to waste so I'm willing to give this another try. Wish me luck!

So far that's what I plan to read on and really I encourage everyone to do the 50 book challenge with me. Let me know if you do...

Also I do plan to write a review of all the books I've read, most probably in Goodreads. Okay scratch that I won't be able to review ALL, since they are quite a lot and such a long time ago but I will (REALLY!) write up a review for a good number of them.
