Would you rather? Tag

So I'm stuck at home today because I got the sore eyes and as much as I hate work I don't want to spread virus so being the good person that I am I decided to stay at home and get cured.

And while I am here I decided to update my blog with a tag post. hehe Yes this shows you I have nothing worth posting so far... please just bare with me. LOL

Let's start...

1.Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or Nice hair and no make-up?
= This is very easy, Messy hair and nice Makeup. Just because this is what I do almost everyday. Honestly I could care less about my hair. hehe

2.Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?
= Errr... this is so gruesome! Uhm... have my eyelashes fall out, I guess. Because no eyebrows is just so... alien-like to me and I can't live with that.

3.Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?
= I'd choose Sephora. To be honest, I don't own a MAC makeup yet alone shop there. I just... I don't know... I never really got into it. But with Sephora you can get so many great brands in one shop which is more my thing.

4.Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?
= Lipgloss/Lipliner because this is less heartbreaking. haha

5.Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?
= Overdone blush because I just cannot stand obvious foundation line... it's one of those thing I cannot deal with.

6.Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?
= ................................ after 10 mins.................
Biker shorts I guess? Because MC Hammer pants will make me look even shorter than I already am.

7.Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?
= wow! This is just.... okay... Bad orange-y spray tan because at least you'd look like Miss Hawaiian Tropics than like a dalmatian with weird tan lines... :p

8.Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?
= Haircut. Because you can always find a way to hide that like with a ponytails or headband but haircolor is hard to deal with.

9.Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?
= Twitter. Youtube is far more entertaining than twitter. At least Facebook wasn't in the choices LOL phew!

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?
= Makeup brushes. Because you can always use your hands or those applicators.

Okay so that's my answers... now I'm tagging everyone reading this. And comment below your post so I can read them.

My Instant Brush Cleanser Experience

I was having a bit of a lazy ass kick last night and my make-up brushes were dying to be cleaned. Cleaning your brushes is definitely a must! You use them on your face most of time so you better make sure you clean them after use otherwise all the bacteria will be on your skin causing a breakout. Anyway, I decided to get an Instant Brush Cleanser recipe off the internet because I don't want to hassle myself with the deep cleaning. So I found one that was easy to do and I have most of the ingredients.

Ingredients:
Water
Shampoo
Dish washing detergent
Alcohol
Leave-In Conditioner (I skipped this cause I don't have one)

You mix them all in a bowl but try not to stir them too much cause you don't want them to bubble up.

From the recipe I read you pour the mixture in a small bowl and dip your brush in then flip it back and forth with a clean towel/cloth.

So I took my foundation brush and did the procedure. At first I can see that the foundation is coming off the brush but when I checked it thoroughly I found that it doesn't really clean the brush well. You can still see the foundation inside the bristles, so I kept flipping my brush back and forth on the towel and after a good 5 mins I gave up a decided to go to the sink and deep clean my brush.

But I didn't give up on the recipe just yet (I mean let's be honest it'd be a waste!) so I tried cleaning my eye brushes and it worked fine. I guess it could be the foundation itself making it hard to remove from the brush. So I'm not sure if I want to recommend this recipe just because after all the trouble I gone through with this brush cleanser it made deep cleaning much easier. After I clean the brush with the towel I had to rinse the brush with water because you can feel the soap in it.

It did help cleaning my eye brushes easily though, either way out of 5 I give this recipe a 2.

If you have a better recipe let me know because I really want an Instant cleanser but I don't want to waste cash for the Mac Cleanser even though I heard good reviews on it. I'm sure there's one I can just make at home... hehe

Googled @ ya!

My partner/bestfriend is one of the MOST indecisive person I've ever met in my life. But I guess everyone of us have certain things we couldn't decide on. Especially when you have too many things in mind, you JUST have a hard time figuring out what to do or in my bestfriend's case, what to eat! Following Becky Bloomwood's words, Yes She Googled! She went to google.com and typed "what to eat for lunch" ahahaha absolutely hilarious! My bestfriend is weird and funny that way. I love her for it. :)

Okay I'm sure all of us have a little secret of google-ing mundane things... so SPILL IT!

WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST/EMBRASSING THING YOU GOOGLED?
(don't worry no one will judge you *wink*)

Live. Work. Shop. Sell

Hey dolls,

Soooooo many updates! Been super duper busy with the shop, work and life in general. hehe

First let's talk about MIXXED -yay! We've recently posted new products in our Mixxed Facebook page and one of them is the L.A Colors Nail Lacquers. I got 2 of them, Metallic Pink and Green, here's the preview of the Pink.

The color is absolutely GORGEOUS! Loves it! It applies very very smoothly. I've been wearing it for a week now and guess what, Not A Single Finger Chipped wooohoo! And I didn't even put a transparent nail polish for a finishing touch. So yea this is a definite must-have.

Here's the colors available - they are only $52 HKD and yes we do ship internationally. If interested please contact me. :)

Another random note is that there was a new mall mall in Tsim Sha Tsui (I forgot the name of the mall... woops) and one of the shop is coincidently named "MIXX" yes I know ours is past tense but still! So my partner and I are deciding to copyright our name soon. Look I even took a pic of the shop list hehe

For work update, well nothing really interesting, just that my boss has given me more and more workload. Which sucks because its not even part of my job description and more so, it's not an account I handle. But I guess I can't complain? *sigh*

As for my personal life, well let's just say I am in Cloud 9! weeeee I am in a very good place right now and hopefully whatever plans I/we have will happen and work. I leave it in His hands. :)

That's all for now. I realize this post is full of pictures but whatevs.

And oh, please follow my bestfriend on twitter she's a newbie - Abby

Also check out my friend's Online Shop - WM Style

Much love,
Mixxed

Sharing in Suffering

Last night was our mid-week worship service. Our pastor talked about "Sharing in suffering".

In 2 Timothy 2:3 "Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus." As Christians, we are are like soldiers. We fight and we struggle. We talked about how Life of a Christian is a battle. Warren Wiersbe puts it graphically, "The Christian life is not a playground; it is a battleground." Another writer puts it this way, "For the Christian, the world is an arena, not an armchair." Yes, the Christian life is a warfare; we live in enemy territory.

On the other hand, suffering is not new to the Christians, In point of face, it is part of our calling. One wrote that, Life is difficult and it's the reality. We cannot change that, and the only solution to this is to accept that life is for a fact difficult. By Accepting this, it lessens your emotional stress. In your suffering God hears you and when you feel like the Lord is not answering your prayers, that doesn't mean he has taken you for granted or has left you. Suffering has a purpose in our life. Like what I wrote in my previous blog, it is developing us and toughing us and it is required  to shape us for the future. It is required for developing maturity.

Patience = Long suffering.

Patience is to endure suffering in a Lords way. Our pastor gave an example of long suffering Like Nelson Mandela, when he was imprisoned for 27 years. After getting out from prison, he was still able to forgive those people who put him to jail. My example is Joseph (the bible). He had so many struggles in life....long suffering from his brothers, traded to Egypt, put to prison... but in the end God prospered him.

Suffering is part of the will of the Lord in our lives. But don't get it wrong..that all sufferings are from God. Sometimes we suffer cause of our own liability. We suffer when we make wrong decisions but it is God who measures it.

For those who answer the call of God's love, the way of suffering may be the way of life, and that is the ultimate purpose of the existence of suffering in the world. The call is still going out; there is still opportunity for all who are looking for hope beyond this present evil world, to find it in the 'good news' of the Gospel.

Let it go... By T. D. Jakes

Most of us have had experiences that are painful - too painful to the extent that if haunts you. T.D Jakes gives you a clearer view why it is important when to let go and why you have to let go. This is beautiful. Read it to the end...the message is awesome!!!

Let it go...
By T. D. Jakes

There are people who can walk away from you.
And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you:
Let them walk.
I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.
When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.
Let them go.
And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.
You've got to know when it's dead.

You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay.
Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life,
then you need to......
LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ......
LET IT GO!!!

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and
see your worth.....
LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you........
LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge..... .
LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction... ...
LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents
LET IT GO!!!

If you! You have a bad attitude.......
LET IT GO!!!

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better......
LET IT GO!!!

If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship. ......

LET IT GO!!!
If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves......
LET IT GO!!!

If you're feeling depressed and stressed .........
LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying "take your hands off of it," then you need to......
LET IT GO!!!

Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. GOD is doing a new thing NOW!!!
LET IT GO!!!

Get Right or Get Left.. Think about it, and then.
LET IT GO!!!

"The Battle is the Lord's!"

Stop and think and appreciate God's power in your life, for doing what you know is pleasing to Him. Jesus said, If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before My Father"
"Yes, I love my God. He is my fountain of Life and My Savior. He keeps me going day and night. Without Him, I am no one. But with Him, I can do everything, Christ is my strength."

God loves you and watches over you everyday.

Blessings to All,
Bex

Awesomes

I love Neil Patrick Harris, there I said it!
No, I don’t love ‘love’ him. And yes, I am aware that he is gay in real life. Nonetheless I find him absolutely AWESOME! My friend gave a complete album of Glee songs and one of them was Dream On sung by Matthew Morrison and Neil Patrick Harris. I listened to it and I just fell off my chair. I love it so much it’s been on repeat in my Ipod, ha!
NPH is also awesome in How I Met Your Mother.
Another one of my awesome finds lately is Revlon Colorstay foundation with Softflex. Yay, I am now a proud owner of the much raved about foundation and I can see why it is such a big hit because it truly stays on your face!
Here’s my review:
  • Texture is creamy with a powder finish.
  • Coverage is medium to full.
  • Have a bit of a smell, not bad but not good either. The smell doesn’t last long so I’m not bothered by that.
  • Price is fine by me, affordable and definitely worth your money.
The one thing I love most about this is that I have completely skipped concealer and powder routine. Saves me time!
My latest read is the Percy Jackson Series. I found the complete e-book of the P.J series (for free!) a few months ago but I only started reading last week. I just finished the ‘The Lightning Thief’ and I am completely hooked! I’m on to the 2nd book… wee so exciting.
However, I am quite guilty for leaving 2 books behind. I’m half way through reading both The Lost Symbol and Wuthering Heights and somehow I stopped. Well my excuse for The Lost Symbol is that I have the hardbound copy and its way too heavy to bring with me and read on my way to work. For Wuthering Heights… err… I dunno, guess I lost my moment? But yea, will need to back to those when I’m done with Percy.
Another awesome awesome thing is that A LOT of changes for MIXXED coming soon!!!
Sorry but ‘was told to zip my mouth first so I don’t jinx our plans hehe. I am truly excited for this…! Hate to leave you guys hanging but that’s all for now. Promise the changes are definitely good!

Shhh... it's a secret!

Okay so I did not keep my shopping detox. I bought a few things here and there, ugh I know I’m bad. But I do have a little practicality under my skin so I’m going the share with you some of my beauty secrets.

Scene: Gaaah I forgot my mascara!
Solution: Rub a little lotion with index and thumb then gently clamp your lashes. Gives you the illusion of bolder and longer lashes.

Scene: OMG this face powder is too dark!
Solution: Use as a bronzer for contouring.

Scene: Hellz this face powder is too light?
Solution: Use a brow bone highlight.

Scene: Ouch this facial scrub is too harsh for my face!
Solution: Use as a body scrub.

Scene: Waah… shine much and I don’t have blotting paper.
Solution: Go Starbucks and grab one of their tissues. It absorbs oil extremely well.

Scene: WTH this whitening facial wash is giving me total breakouts!
Solution: Use on the body for whitening.

Scene: I want to get a nice dewy glow and I don’t want to buy another makeup!
Solution: Dab a little Vaseline on your cheekbone. But don’t go overboard you’d look like you can fry eggs on your face. Remember less is more!

Scene: I’m so pale I could be mistaken for a zombie.
Solution: Slap your face! It’ll look more natural than pinching your cheeks.

See, there’s always a solution to every problem. You just have to really think out of the box. :)

P.S All scenes above are from my personal experience.

Review: Eyeliners - Liquid, Pencil, Gel

I've been on a look out for a good eyeliner for ages! It doesn't really matter what kind it is as long as it doesn't smug, doesn't give me panda eyes and definitely needs to be long lasting. Anyway, here are some of the liners I've tried.

Let's start from Bad to Good, shall we?

- Maybelline Long Lasting Gel Eyeliner

I only have one word for this, TRASH! It is absolute rubbish. No it doesn't last long, you get fall outs and the colors aren't even that vivid. I do not recommend this, never! I really do have high hopes for this eyeliner but sadly it is a disappointment. I'd put it on in the morning then after 30 mins there are fall outs under my eyes making me look like I've done an all-nighter. If you are into that kind of look then by all means get this one. I've used this 3 times and stopped afterwards. It comes with a brush, by the way, and I do like that so I will be throwing away the gel and keeping the brush. That's $80HKD down the drain.

- VOV Liquid Felt Tip Eyeliner

I did try using this one, tried to love it even, I really did but Oh.My.Gosh. does it stinks! The moment I open the cap the smell it produces is just plain awful. The eyeliner is okay, although the felt tip is too long and flimsy making it hard to control but the color and lasting effect is fine. However, I did notice that on your 5th hour you be getting chunks on your lids. The eyeliner breaks up so you'd look like you plastered little black lines on your lids which is not very complimenting. I'd say... DON'T BUY THIS! Seriously, I don't care how good an eyeliner is but if it stinks like crazy then NO WAY.

- Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner

This one is a 6/10 of me. It is waterproof, which is often hard to remove but at the same time it is handy for rainy days. The thing about this is, it is made for smokey look - I think, haha. Because it comes with an applicator at the end of the pencil, used for smudging. So if you don't want a smokey eye and you use this then yeah... you'll get smudging unpurposely. You'll get black lines in your undereye as well, which I don't like. However, the pencil is easy to use -obviously and it does last long enough. But for a black eyeliner don't except it to be powerful, it comes out like dark grey to me. I will recommend if you like smudged effect ;)

- Sephora Eyeliner Pencil

I like this one for pencil eyeliner. It lasts long, gives good color but will a little smudging which doesn't bothers me because when it smudges it's very easy to clean/fix. I think I got this for $20 when Sephora was doing their final sale = yayness! Defo recommend this... unfortunately Sephora HK has closed so... will try to have this available at our shop, TRY, so please don't harrass me on this. hehe

- L'oreal Intense Lineur Felt Tip Eyeliner

This is love! I ordered this online but got the Dark Brown one. I don't know where my head was when I was ordering because I really thought I bought the Carbon Black. But that doesn't matter because the dark brown is just perfect! When you put it on it doesn't look like you had brown eyeliner but because it's not black you don't get a strong harsh look, which I like. It does not fall out, does not smudge and last for 8 hours. It is very easy to use, the felt tip isn't that long so you'll get good control. I still want to get the Carbon Black probably when I'm done with my brown. I will definitely recommend this one however it is only available in the US so... again will try to make this available at our shop.

That is my first ever review! I hope this has helped you. I will more reviews in the future.

Mixxed
