When we went to the Philippines earlier this year most of my makeups were ruined but I have managed to salvage them except for my LA Colors blush because it fell off the table and broke into a million pieces. One of the product that was ruined was my NYX lipstick in Fig. Due to the extremely hot weather in the Philippines my lipstick has melted and when I was about to use it, it fell right off but I was able to stick it back to its tube until I had this genius plan of turning it into a creme but don't worry I am here to share my ingenious idea with you.
First you will need:
Empty container - got mine in Bonjour for $5 (HK)
Lighter
Candle - it doesn't have to be scented, LOL!
Spoon - Metal, not plastic.
And of course, your lipstick of choice :)
Start of my lighting the candle, then scrape your lipstick onto the spoon and place it above the candle.
It doesn't have to be super close to the candle but just enough to melt the lipstick. Yes, the bright idea here is to melt your lipstick.
After a 3-5 minutes your lipstick should be all liquidy which you can then pour into your empty container.
And tada! Not only will you be reusing your lipstick but you can also use this as a cheek tint. See ladies we don't need to spend to get those much covetted Bobbi Brown lip and cheek products. We can recreate! Yes I know it's not as if I have discovered the cure to cancer but hey I bet most of you have had melted lipsticks you want to salvage right. Another idea for this trick is to deposit them into a medicine kit and turn it into a lip palette.
So ladies, don't throw them ruined makeups I'm sure we can find a way to resurrect them, hehe
Do send us pictures if you have done this we'd love to see your finish products.
Till next time,
jCel♥
HI Jcel.
ReplyDeleteYou can also. PULSE the lipstick in the microwave for 5 seconds a time till just melted. Or
You can put in container and place in boiling water to melt the product from the heat of the water.
Its a little slower but does not involve flame for those that dont want to use.
It is a shame to waste good cosmetics. Great advice!
The boiling water is also a good trick and yes it will take longer but good for those young ones that is better off without fire involved! LOL the microwave though is a little scarier. It will be hard to find a container that is microwave safe and one that will be a good size for your lipstick because if its too big wouldn't it be harder to pour the contents out? Thanks for the praise and advice. Always a pleasure knowing your thoughts :) - jcel
DeleteJcel! This is interesting! Have to look through my stash too... I know I have some ruined lipsticks too... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Wheng! Glad you found this tip helpful. If you have too many lipsticks to salvage, pour them in a medicine set kit para you have a palette na. hehe Would love to see your finish product. :)
