This book has gotten so much buzz that I think it deserves a special in-depth review.
Well... okay to sum it up, it is basically reading porn! Yes sorry
to put it out there but it's the truth.
Let's start with the summary of the book.
When literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind - until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time.
The unworldly, innocent Ana is shocked to realize she wants this man, and when he warns her to keep her distance it only makes her more desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her - but on his own terms.Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny. Can their relationship transcend physical passion? Will Ana find it in herself to submit to the self-indulgent Master? And if she does, will she still love what she finds?
Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.
As mentioned earlier, this book goes under the genre: Erotica. And I know what you are
thinking, Jcel why would you be reading such a book?! Believe me, I never read these
kind of books just because, I'm sorry, but I find them rather cheap. I do not
like reading books where it focuses on Lust and my friends can bank me on that.
However because it was so talked about that I caved in to the hype and boy was it
is a colossal waste of my time!
Before actually reading it I did some research on Goodreads and the
reviews were 50-50. It was a kind of book that you either REALLY like it or you
REALLY hate it, very much like Twilight. However I'm sorry to say to all
fanatics, I do not like it.
From some of the reviews it was said that despite being an erotica
book it was nicely written, I beg to disagree. The writing sucks and don't get
me started with the plot. In fact, there was NO plot, their so-called love
story is not enough to support this book. The only thing going on is their
kinky, wild “playtime”. I cannot help but roll my eyes on that.
As for the infamous drop dead gorgeous Mr. Grey, oh please the guy
is one sick, demented creep! How people fantasize about him is beyond me. And
for Anastasia, one word Pathetic! I know you're in love but ugh use your
head!
The irony is as much as the book makes me gag I kept on reading it,
just like how Christian wants Anastasia to feel in the ‘Room of Doom’. You keep
going not because you like it but because you want to. Crazy right! Oh the
pleasure pain can give you. *gags*
However I have to say I am happy with the ending. In fact I
actually didn't think it would end that way but if I were in her shoes I think
6 chapters into the book and I'd be running to hills and stay clear from that
guy no matter how sexy or handsome he is.
Needless to say I will not be reading the other books from the
series because frankly I'd sleep better knowing that’s how it ended.
Do I recommend this book? I really don’t know. I suppose it serves
well for you to know what the fuss is about. However, bit advice from the wise,
it is not for the fainthearted, like me I guess.
Please make sure you are of age if you are interested in this book
because it is for a more mature audience.
Till my next book post...
Ciao,
jCel♥
